It is recommended that you build your time of practice so beginning with 5 minutes once or twice a day and eventually increasing to twenty minutes once or twice a day suits most people. Some people meditate for longer however, the key to meditation is 'regular' practice so choosing a period of time and at a time that suits your lifestyle is going to be important to build your practice.
